Currently, there are more than 25,000 Lions, Tigers, Bears, Wolves and other large carnivores living outside of our zoo system in America. These animals can be found in people’s back yards, basements, apartments, garages and other terribly unnatural places. There are no places for them to go other than a Sanctuary like ours where they can be given a new life free from exploitation and abuse.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary
I first learned about about the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesberg, Colorado after seeing a news report in 2011 about the air-transport of 25 rescued Bolivian lions sponsored by noted animal philanthropist Bob Barker.
Furthermore, I was eager to visit after hearing about the tragedy of the Zanesville Animal Massacre that same year.
After learning more about the Wild Animal Sanctuary’s mission, I have come to believe that the scourge of animal circuses, private and non-scientific Zoo’s, as well as the keeping of exotic animals as pets should be banned or heavily regulated internationally.
I have, and will continue to donate to help Wild Animal Sanctuary continue it’s mission of rescuing captive animals and providing them with scientifically sound and humane homes for the remainder of their natural lives. I strongly encourage you to do the same.

Armchair activism idea: Unfollow and Report Instagram / Social Media personalities whom promote keeping of exotic animals. Remind people on Trip Advisor / tour sites that many of these attractions of non-scientific and not humane. Social Networks tolerance of this content is deplorable.
